The History of Gedi-Trof
The name Gedi-Trof was created by combining the two first names of the company founders, GEorges and DIane Dirinck. They started the company, the name of which did not need to be amended when son Geert later took over the company (GEert DIrinck). Originally, the shop sold gifts, tin goods, and sports cups.
Then, driven by Geert, a sporty independent young man with connections in the sporting world, the shop quickly opted to concentrate on trophies, cups and similar products.
It was from that moment onwards that Gedi-Trof experienced a major expansion.
When the company contacted their first foreign (Italian) suppliers in 1984, it successfully made the transition to manufacturer-wholesaler.
A major building extension proved necessary in 1988, and a second extension soon followed in 1991.
The workforce are an important part of our company, and at present we employ 18 people. In October 2003, Stephanie was the third generation to join the company.
